The science behind the $700 billion bank bailout number

The current administration and all of its departments have shown to have little ability to forecast reality whether it is the Iraq resistance, the time to rebuild, or the dollar amount to occupy two countries in the Middle East.

The Iraq War at first was supposed to be paid for with oil. Then maybe it would cost $50 billion. Then Bush got mad at that number. Then he backed off and administration officials hypothesized $50 to $100 billion.

The real number appears to be $1 to $3 trillion.

And now they are forecasting bank failures and how much the government will be able to retrieve in mortgage payments, foreclosure sales, and just how many more banks and lending institutions will fail. How much will this cost?

A Treasury spokeswoman told reporters Tuesday some of the amazing science used to coming up with the $700 billion number:

Some of the most basic details, including the $700 billion figure Treasury would use to buy up bad debt, are fuzzy.

“It’s not based on any particular data point,” a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. “We just wanted to choose a really large number.”

Police Mass Arrest 248 people at RNC listening to music

Mass Arrest RNC of 200 people

A newly released video, which was hidden to avoid confiscation by the police, shows police arresting a giant group of people who were doing nothing.

The video was released today of an apparent mass arrest of utterly peaceful concert goers at the SEIU Labor Day concert. A favorite moment in the tape is an off-camera exchange.

Police in riot gear have surrounded people in a waterfront park. They announce, “Ladies and Gentlemen, You’re Under Arrest” and you hear one young woman say incredulously “Are you serious?”

Republican Quote Quiz - Who said this and when?

“I believe in low taxes, spending discipline, open markets (i.e. he believes in sunshine), letting people keep the fruits of their labor, personal responsibility, and the rule of law”

A) Ron Paul - January 14th NBC Republican Debate

B) Ronald Reagan - September 23rd, 1983 UCLA Political Speech

C) Richard Nixon February 3rd, 1971 National Press Conference

D) John McCain September 4th, 2008 Republican National Convention Minneapolis

If you answered D you are correct. Did he mean it? Will he do that if somehow he is elected? Is he just trying to court the thousands of Ron Paul fans in town for the RNC?

Maybe it is the last choice again.

Joe Biden is Obama’s VP choice.

After weeks of speculation and a few days of poll numbers that suggest Obama is slipping to McCain at least right now Obama has named his VP running mate.

It is Joe Biden the Demrocratic Senator rom Delaware has been named as Vice Presidential running mate.

This seems like a good choice as he is personable, well spoken and seems to be a good leader.

Will this lead to a ebound in Obama’s numbers? Time will tell. We will review Bidens stance on different issues and come to soome conclusion later in the day hopefully.

Obama Hand Salute - The latest in the cult of personality?

Obama Salute Pic

In the continued story of how Obama is able (and wants to) run a campaign on style over substance comes a handy err hand salute. Since it is so difficult to wear Obama shirts, buttons and hats all the time an Obama fan going by the name Husong has created a hand salute let let other people know you support Barack Obama.

So this does not appear to be from the official Obama campaign. That is good. The last few uses of imagery to connect with people have been a little scary to say the least. The presidential seal looking logo also was possibly illegal.

After exhaustive research it seems that even before Barack Obama won any political office he had fans that wanted to convey the greatness that is Barack. Behold the first people aliens that wanted “Change”:

Spock Supports Obama

And these aliens it seems as well.

Alien Supporters of Obama

I can hardly wait until we see a crowd of thousands of people chanting and holding their hands together all making the same sign. Beam me up Scotty.

First Vince Weiguang Li Pic is in

Vince Weiguang Li Sun Pic

Vince Weiguang Li is the 40 year old man that was detained by Canadian Mounties after another Greyhound bus passenger was stabbed and then decapitated by the person sitting next to him.

There appears to be no motive and there was no altercation between the two.

The killer appears to be Asian and has a Chinese name. It does not appear that the crime was racially motivated but I imagine the police are investigating all possibilities.

I hope a complete medical test is being performed on Vince Weiguang Li to look for any drugs or trace poisons. Additionally police reports that a psychological test is planned.

Update: New Picture just found before he was arrested. Amazing how calm and professional the police officer is. You have to feel for people that have to deal with situations like this all the time.
